Columbus Zoo

Today John, Jake & I visited the top rated zoo in the country.  The zoo operates its own conservation program, donating money to outside programs as well as participating in their own conservation efforts. We really enjoyed watching the gorillas and learned that they are quite intelligent creatures.   Recently, Columbus Zoo was sent a baby gorilla raised by human keepers. We got to watch the baby during its recent introduction into this gorilla family.

Not pictured here but on December 22, 1956, Colo, a western lowland gorilla, became the world’s first captive-born gorilla at the Columbus Zoo. At the age of 58 (soon to be 59), she is the oldest gorilla in human care worldwide.
